Ship Naked
Ship Naked is based on the concept that excessive packaging is not necessary to ship goods– and not sustainable.

The Problem

850 million tons of paper and cardboard are discarded annually, equaling approximately 1 billion trees.
Many products shipped by major retailers do not need to be repackaged in another box, they are rigid enough to ship in the manufacturer’s box.
Our Solution
We launched our Ship Naked campaign in 2023, asking major online retailers to ship products that come in rigid boxes in their original packaging, rather than use additional, excess packaging. Our social pressure campaign was successful: our committed supporters sent thousands of emails to demand more sustainable packaging.

Our Impact
Our work helped lead to Amazon’s phase out of plastic packing pillows by 2024. UPS became a supporter of Ship Greener in 2023, and an official partner in 2024, creating guidelines for more sustainable shipping and supply chains.
